New Litho Press

AB Co (Design & Print) Limited based in Pudsey, Leeds are investing over £500,000 in new technology over the forthcoming year. An order has been placed with Komori for a brand new 5 colour LS526M, with installation due to take place in March of 2007, the first of its kind to be installed in the UK.

To further enhance efficiencies and print quality, AB Co has also invested immediately in the Prinergy Evo workflow system, allowing CIP 3 data to be communicated to its presses. Allied with the new upgrade to KMS IV and PDC Lite in-line colour management system, this cutting edge investment, will allow colour consistency from the first to last sheet with a colour spectrophotometer on board for those key corporate colours and logo’s.

Production Director, James Wood, believes that this new equipment will take AB Co back to the top of its class in the SRA2 short to medium run market place. “Following our successes in the BPIF Awards 2000 / Print Week Awards of 2000 and 2001 we invested heavily in acquisitions, with the purchase of both a Reprographic and Screen Printing Company. Our machinery was new and perfectly capable of meeting our customer demands at that time; however market needs are far more demanding today with litho turn around times almost as short as digital!

The new LS526M does a 4-colour make ready in less than 10 minutes as opposed to our current 30 minutes and has a maximum running speed of 16000 sheets per hour. Considering we average 14 make readies per day on each machine. This will significantly increase our capacity allowing us to further reduce our lead-times. Our customers will benefit from lower costs added to improved consistency and quality of print – It’s a win, win situation for all involved.” Dec 06
